Introduction

Vision

Korean Christian Thought Institute, founded on December 27, 1991

The Korean Christian Thought Institute (KCTI) was founded in order to spread the universal Gospel truth into Korean society, culture, and religion, and thus establish a ‘Korean belief’ and ‘Korean church,’ thereby evangelizing the national society and vitalizing the world church. Korea is no longer dominated by mainstream culture, but is now at a point where it can reinterpret its own culture and lead neighboring cultures independently and creatively. In this context, Korean Catholicism has made a huge global leap forward in both quantity and quality, and is now facing the responsibility of the mental value and cultural role model fit for such growth.

The KCTI aims to follow in the footsteps of Monsignor Shim Sang-tae

the founding father of Korean theology, by linking the value and legacy of the Catholic Church, thus spreading the good influence of the church not only within the church, but also in the academic world and pop culture. Catholicism is a cultural science that includes theological values and worldviews. K-Catholicism, which is a combination of Korean geographical uniqueness and ubiquity of Catholic knowledge, stands for the new challenges and duties of Korean theology. Our institute aims to spread the aroma of Jesus Christ through academic culture, and to pursue Catholic humanities education for the expansion of Catholic knowledge and research projects for the growth and spread of Korean Catholic theology and humanities knowledge.
